Do your lips make you smile?

Lip fillers can add fullness to thin lips while maintaining the natural look of the lips, enhancing the existing shape and creating a subtle vermilion border or ‘Cupid’s Bow’.

Lip fillers can also ease droop at the corners of the mouth, add definition to the lip edges and adjust the proportions of the top and bottom lip, ideally aiming for a 7:10 top:bottom ratio, as well as softening lines around the mouth.

Which product is used?

Juvederm contains hyaluronic acid, a naturally-occurring component of our tissues, that absorbs moisture and keeps lips and skin hydrated for a youthful look.

What should I expect before treatment?

Michelle will have an in-depth consultation with you to understand what your needs are and to determine whether you are suitable for treatment. Michelle will then explain your options to you, in order to make sure that the treatment will satisfy your expectations.

What should I expect during treatment?

You will receive a topical anaesthetic on your lips to numb the area, to minimise discomfort and tenderness. Your lips will be cleansed using chlorhexidine, a skin disinfectant. Juvederm products contain lidocaine, which will provide a numbing sensation to your lips during injections. The procedure involves a few injections using a very tiny needle and takes no more than 15 minutes.

What should I expect after treatment?

After treatment, it is quite normal to experience tenderness and swelling in the injected area, which usually subsides within a few days. It is recommended that you do not touch your lips for 12 hours after treatment, to minimise the risk of infection.

What are the risks associated with lip fillers?

There is a very small risk of the filler being injected into blood vessels that can cause damage to your lips. This is rare, and Michelle utilises specific techniques to ensure every effort is made to avoid this complication. Lumps, or granulomas, can develop and is also a rare complication. Should this occur, the lip filler can be reversed with an injection containing a reversal agent, hyaluronidase.

Infection of the lips can also occur however the risk is minimised by the thorough cleansing by Michelle of your lips prior to the procedure, as well as not touching your lips after the procedure.

Should I massage my lips after treatment?

With the Juvederm Vycross Technology, the hyaluronic acid will naturally integrate into your lips within 1-4 weeks after treatment. Due to this integration, massaging your lips is not recommended as the product can be massaged out of the lips.

If I would like more fullness after my first injections, how long should I wait before getting more filler?

It is recommended that you wait 4-6 weeks before getting more lip filler, in order to allow the product to integrate fully into the lips.

When can I wear make up?

You can apply make up 12 hours after having lip filler treatment

Can I use saunas or steam rooms after treatment?

It is recommended that you do not enter a sauna or steam room for 2 weeks after treatment.

How long will my lip fillers last?

Juvederm lip fillers can last up to 1 year.
