What are semi permanent brows?
Semi permanent brows are an advanced form of cosmetic enhancement tattooing.
What is involved during the procedure?
The brows are carefully measured, shaped and a template is drawn directly onto the skin so the client can see shape and symmetry.
A then carefully chosen coloured pigment is inserted into the top layer of the skin using fine needles in either feathered hair strokes, powdered shading or a mixture of both depending on the style of brow the client is looking for.
What is the difference between micropigmentation and microblading?
Semi-permanent brows or micropigmentation unlike microblading, is performed using a 3D digital machine and different shaped and sized hand-held needle cartridges. This allows the therapist to carefully design the client’s brows with a more personal touch, using different techniques such as shading, to create fusion brows as well as feathered hair strokes and ombré powdered brows.
What will they look like after?
The client’s brows will be 30-50 times darker immediately afterwards. Over the next 7 days the brows will gradually heal, and in turn lighten and appear more natural. The true colour of the pigment will only be seen after one month of the treatment.
*Skin types are individually different so healing will vary from client to client.
How many sessions are needed?
This treatment needs 2 sessions depending on the client’s skin type and general aftercare. There is a minimum of 4-6 weeks between sessions. After the initial sessions top ups are every 12-18 months.
How long does it last?
Results and longevity depend on the client’s skin type, aftercare and lifestyle. Anywhere between 1-3 years, however, even thought the colour will fade, the pigment will stay in the skin indefinitely and may leave a slight residue of colour.
What is involved in the aftercare?
Aftercare instructions will be explained to the client in detail on the day of their first brow session. A copy of the aftercare is also emailed along with pre-care advice once the initial booking is made.
The healing process is complete after 30 days and the client will come back for a mandatory top up appointment. In this top up session we refresh and perfect the brows to ensure longevity.
Make-up can be applied immediately after but the brow area must be avoided for 1 week.
Sun exposure, facial treatments, saunas, steam rooms, jacuzzis and swimming pools must be avoided for 2 weeks.
Prolonged exposure to water, excessive perspiration and exposure to the sun should also be avoided during the first 7-10 days.
*If you are pregnant, breastfeeding or undergoing chemotherapy the procedure cannot be carried out.
